NaTakallam provides refugees with the training and mentorship needed to perform the services, offering a pathway to sustainable income during and after displacement and/or in the early stages of resettlement. Meanwhile, NaTakallam provides clients with a much-needed service that provides a livelihood to refugees, regardless of their location/status. To date, displaced persons have self-generated over 900,00USD through NaTakallam.

Job Description

What are we looking for?

NaTakallam is looking for a Senior Finance Officer to smoothly and efficiently run the social enterprise’s finances.

The Senior Finance Officer will report to NaTakallam’s COO and CEO, and work closely with the operations team. You will interact with all teams and departments, as well as some third-party service providers and clients. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, able to bridge long-term visions with day-to-day operations, and very comfortable with the ambiguity of start-up environments and rapidly shifting objectives. The candidate is expected to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, budgeting and financial forecasting. This post is core to the day-to-day financial activities and effective financial management of our company.

An ability to support programmatic objectives with timely and meaningful financial information is essential. A demonstrated ability to multitask, work remotely, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary. An impeccable professional standard of finance and procurement ethics.


  • Execute the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions.
  • Prepare budgets, with support from the COO.
  • Managing records and receipts.
  • Reconciling daily, monthly and yearly transactions.
  • Preparing balance sheets.
  • Resolving financial disputes raised by the customer service and sales teams.
  • Supporting the COO and executives with projects and tasks when required.
  • Contracting and managing all third party/ outside services for tax preparation, auditing, banking, investments, and other financial needs as necessary.
  • Tracking the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
  • Reviewing financial data and preparing monthly and annual reports.
  • Staying up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.
  • Understanding and adhering to financial regulations and legislation relevant to the enterprise.
  • Managing cash controls as well as maintaining up-to-date accounts.
  • Ensuring account receivables and payables activities are performed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Identifying and resolving invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies and other financial related issues.
  • Reviewing financial paperwork and procedures and making appropriate changes.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor degree/B.COM or equivalent in accounting or finance is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Background in Finance, Economic Accounting, Business, Business Administration or Mathematics.
  • Previous knowledge of ACCPAC SAGE will be an advantage.
  • Part qualified / Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills with budget preparation and analysis, financial reporting preparation and presentation and the proven ability to translate technical financial data into informative reports.
  • Strong accounting skills and experience, including management of general ledger, journal entries, payroll, payables and balance sheet.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to work systematically and accurately, with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate financial information to non finance staff.
  • Demonstrable ability to think and work strategically.
  • Solid knowledge of financial controls.
  • Commitment to the policies and values of the social enterprise.
