NaTakallam is an award-winning, social enterprise that offers high-quality, curated language services delivered by refugees, displaced persons and host communities through the freelance economy. NaTakallam identifies skilled refugees and provides them with the training and mentorship needed to perform the services, which offer a pathway to sustainable income during and after displacement and/or in the early stages of resettlement. Meanwhile, NaTakallam offers clients a much-needed service that in turn, provides a livelihood to refugees, regardless of their location/status. To date, displaced persons have self-generated over 700,00USD through NaTakallam.

Job Description

We are looking for an executive assistant to shadow and support the CEO in all of her work—ranging from logistics, internal and external communications, to grant writing and client growth through partnerships and other channels.


  • Performs administrative duties supporting executive management including managing calendars and databases
  • Coordinating travel, meetings and event arrangements
  • Supporting the preparation of reports, decks, conducting research in fields related to NaTakallam’s work, such as the role of startups in the refugee crisis, legal and labor restrictions for refugees and asylum seekers, language learning etc.
  • Customer service and grant writing assistance
  • Supporting interactions with refugee conversation partners, coordination of different programing, notably with organizational clients (NGOs, corporates, etc.) assisting in customer relations and correspondences; supervising deadlines
  • Supporting Social Media/Marketing team as needed

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in communications and/or project coordination ideally in NGO/social enterprise/startup sector.
  • Flexibility, ability to multitask, and independent learner
  • Personable and strong interpersonal, organizational and writing skills
  • Organized, highly attentive to detail
  • Ability to work in fast-paced startup environment with all levels of internal staff/management
  • Commitment to the mission of NaTakallam

Desired Skills:

  • Interest in the Middle East, social entrepreneurship, refugee rights, language learning and/or humanitarian work
  • Customer service/interaction experience is highly desirable
  • Foreign language skills, particularly in Arabic or French
